March - Aquamarine Bloodstone
Meaning: Courage
Aquamarine gets its name from its color—a sparkly crystal green-blue—although it comes in varying shades. The most admired hue, however, is the sky-blue aquamarine stone. Legends say that aquamarine was the treasure of the mermaids and protected sailors from danger at sea. It’s also associated with endurance and friendship.
As with any pale gem, aquamarines should have no inclusions to the naked eye. And because they are known for relatively being free of inclusions, they’re frequently cut with large step facets—like oval and emerald shapes—to show off their flawless surfaces. Aquamarines are also quite durable and keep their elegance with everyday wear.
The aquamarine gemstone can be set beautifully with gold, platinum or silver, are quite stunning with diamonds in necklaces and rings, and are complementary with nearly any skin tone.
