Meaning: Constancy
Most people think of the garnet as a red stone, but it comes in several different colors, including a ravishing blue. The garnet was once thought to be connected with the blood and would protect against depression, nightmares, wounds and poisons. Many also believe it offers guidance through the dark. Garnet jewells were favorites among Egyptian jewelers and royalty, and demantoid garnets were favorites of the Tsars of Russia.
Garnets are found all over the world, and is actually part of a family of gems with varying mineral and color differences, and uses—not just jewelry. The most common types are garnet are almandine and pyrope (and subsequently the most affordable), and tsavority and demantoid are the rarest valuing up to several thousands of dollars per carat.
